Mounjaro and Ozempic in Endocrine Disorder Treatment
There has been an extensive change in the types of medications used for the management of healthcare issues such as type 2 diabetes and therefore there has been an introduction of new medications. The new medications used in managing endocrine disorders include Mounjaro (tripeptide) and Ozempic (semaglutide). The two drugs are classified as GLP-1 receptor agonists but they have differences and similarities that influence their use. The aim of this paper is to discuss the similarities and differences between the two medications.
One of the similarities between Mounjaro and Ozempic is on the mechanism of action of these medications. Precisely, the two medications work by targeting the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor for the enhancement of secretion of insulin in response to meals and suppressing the release of glucagon.
