Peer Review of WA papers
PURPOSE:
This assignment is intended to teach you how to conduct a peer review critique, such as you would do if asked to review for a journal. This is an essential skill for a DNP to facilitate dissemination of scholarly work.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Conduct a review of the 2 WA manuscripts that were assigned to you (I will email these to you), being sure to include the elements listed in the table below. You will create one document containing both reviews that you conduct. Please make sure to put the name of the student and their Manuscript title at the top of each review you conduct. When you have completed the review, you will upload your review to this link here.
I will anonymize your review and send it to your peer (just like a journal editor would). Your peer will then respond to the feedback you provide when they revise and resubmit the final paper. You will know who you review, but you will NOT know who reviews your paper, and similarly, your peer will NOT know who reviewed them. This blinding to review is done to allow you to be honest without social biases.
- Create one document that contains both of your reviews.
- Start each review on a new page. (Use page breaks)
- Be sure to include the MANUSCRIPT AUTHORS NAME and MANUSCRIPT TITLE at the top of each review.
- Make the AUTHOR NAME a level one heading in Microsoft Word so that I can navigate between reviews easily.

The paper has presented a detailed workflow analysis of the emergency department process for pediatric autistic patients. The manuscript has given the existing challenges in the workflow and proposes changes to improve care through the implementation of standardized autism care plans in electronic health records. The approach is well-researched, supported by current literature, and highlights practical implications. However, several areas require further elaboration, including clarifying the proposed workflow change, integrating more visual aids and diagrams, and discussing Stakeholder feedback in greater detail.
